TrendBites publishes editor-reviewed guides to restaurants appearing in widely watched food videos. A Creator Score summarizes what the credited creator said about the food; it is one evidence point, not our own restaurant rating.

01Why not just use likes?

Because likes measure entertainment, not food. A video titled “The WORST restaurant in Los Angeles?!” can rack up two million likes while the creator spits the food into a napkin. Traditional review sites have the opposite problem: walls of anonymous text reviews, outdated photos, and one-star tantrums about parking. We built TrendBites to cut through both.

02How the Creator Score works

    DiscoveryWe continuously monitor YouTube for food videos that are genuinely trending — recent uploads with view counts in the hundreds of thousands or millions.

    ListeningOur AI reads the video’s transcript and description and identifies every restaurant the creator personally visited — not places mentioned in passing, not sponsors, not home cooking.
  3. 03
    ScoringThe AI scores the creator’s actual verdict on the food from 0 to 100. Entertainment value, thumbnail drama, and like counts are deliberately ignored.
  4. 04
    Editorial reviewNothing discovered by the automated pipeline is published automatically. A human checks the source, suitability, restaurant identity, location, and named dish before deciding whether a guide belongs on the public site.
  5. 05
    Fact checkPublished guides verify the address and practical details against official restaurant or map sources. The guide shows its fact-check date and separates restaurant facts from the creator’s opinion.
  6. 06
    CorroborationWhen multiple independent creators cover the same spot, the score receives a small, disclosed boost. A single source is still labeled as a single source.

03What you can do here

Browse the published collection, filter by city, search by dish, watch the credited source, open the official menu when available, and get directions. The public collection contains only guides that passed the editorial gate; newly discovered places stay private until they are reviewed and expanded.

04What TrendBites is not

TrendBites does not claim firsthand dining experience and does not accept payment from restaurants for placement or scores. Guides interpret credited creator evidence and add independently checked planning details. Videos remain the property of their creators and load through YouTube’s official player only after a visitor chooses to play them.

05Who’s behind this

TrendBites is an independent publication built and operated by Ed Vaquerano in California, US. Ed is responsible for the site’s data pipeline, editorial standards, release reviews, corrections, and privacy practices. TrendBites is a personal publishing project.

Questions, corrections, or a restaurant matched to the wrong map pin? Tell me. Automated extraction can miss context, so location and content reports receive a human review before a correction is released.
